To Heal, To inspire, To listen

I founded Heartache To Healing.com to support and inspire those who are suffering through life transitions by sharing my personal story of surviving loss and learning to have a life of purpose and meaning.  I provide inspiring information about a wide variety of topics surrounding death, bereavement, and the healing process to support anyone grieving the loss of a loved one.
In 2005, I lost the two people closest to me—my mother, Dolly and, and less than a month later, my husband, Allan.  Mom had been ill, but you never get over losing your Mom. Allan had fallen from a ladder suffering a head trauma and after a week in the ICU he died. My world was turned upside down with grief and despair, I felt like I couldn’t catch my breath for weeks.  Thinking life couldn’t throw me anything more, it did. My sister in law was diagnosed with breast cancer a few short months after Allan’s death, a few months after that my Dad’s brother died and in December of the same year, Dad was diagnosed with prostate cancer.  Yes, 2005 is a year I am not likely to forget…but it has made me stronger.
Still working through my grief, in 2007 I decided to move from Southern California  where I had resided for 23 years back to my hometown of Minneapolis, Minnesota. Being back with family, long time friends and a slower paced life has proved to be a great decision. JoAnne’s story was featured nationally in Hallmark Magazine and locally in The Star News and The Drummer newspapers.
TESTIMONIALS
“JoAnne has experienced devastating losses in her life.  She has lived the pain, fear, and grief from the death of loved ones. She is an example for all of us to fully live life each moment and she inspires us to find hope and joy in our lives.”

“I want to thank you so much for developing your website.  I think it takes true courage to be able to take your experiences with loss, grief and pain and use/share those experiences to help others.  You know all too well, that the people who’ve walked down that path are the best people to help others just beginning their journey on that similar path. ”

“I admire you.  I lost my precious husband this February and am totally inconsolable. I had 12 beautiful years with him but still feel cheated, bitter and angry.  People like you make me realize what a lot I have to be grateful for.”
